Shinhan Bank is developing an artificial intelligence-based (AI) virtual assistant chatbot application for its employees, the bank said Tuesday.
The assistant will be their "personal secretary," helping employees search, file and organize documents, enabling them to boost their productivity and efficiency, it added.
"We are currently developing the AI secretary at the moment," said a Shinhan Bank spokesman.
"This is part of our ongoing digital transformation initiative."
The lender's development team will be using one of the SOL platform's characters to be the virtual secretary whose name will be "AI Moli."
Moli is a purple animal character which was introduced alongside the platform's main character SOL bear in white when Shinhan launched the all-in-one banking platform.
The SOL platform has an AI chatbot named SOLmate Orora for its customers, to help them navigate and use its mobile banking services.
AI Moli's application will take after Orora, but it will be for Shinhan Bank workers, the lender noted.
They can use the virtual secretary on any workstation such as desktop computers, tablet PCs and mobile phones.
The number of the bank's SOL platform users has surpassed 8 million. The bank is targeting 10 million users this year.
Shinhan Bank said it will deploy its digital and tech specialists to various divisions so that they can closely collaborate with non-tech employees for business development.
This is part of efforts to change its organizational culture drastically to become a digital company.
It added it will change the way it hires new employees, and secures and develops human resources with technological capacity.
