Shownu and Hyungwon of the K-pop boy group Monsta X are starting to make their presence known on the global stage.
The pair appeared on the talk show "Good Day New York" on FOX 5, aired Tuesday local time.
As they introduced their guests, hosts Ryan Kristafer and Bianca Peters had nothing but praise for Monsta X, saying they created an international K-pop sensation with the songs "Who Do U Love" and "Someone's Someone," while expressing their anticipation for Shownu's performance and Hyungwon's production skills in their latest collaborative album.
When asked about the formation of Monsta X's first subunit eight years after their debut, Shownu X Hyungwon said, "We worked really hard on this project and I hope our fans will like it. We tried to show a different side of ourselves than what people are used to seeing in Monsta X."
The title track "Love Me a Little" and "Roll With Me" from the duo's first album "The Unseen" were produced by Hyungwon, who said films and drama are usually the main source of inspiration for his music.
The dance choreography for the title track was created by Shownu, who said he wanted to express restrained emotions and that he was excited to embark on a new project following a long absence due to military service.
Shownu X Hyungwon is set to meet its global fans for the first time as a Monsta X subunit at KCON LA 2023 and Krazy K-Pop Super Concert in New York. The pair said they were excited to perform in front of their fans after such a long time and promised to welcome them with open arms and deliver a great show.
The Monsta X subunit Shownu X Hyungwon released their debut album "The Unseen" on July 25. The title track "Love Me a Little" is about the struggle between your true self and what others want you to be, produced by Hyungwon with Shownu working on the choreography.
