Much-awaited follow-up seasons to hit series are slated to hit the small screen next month, along with lighthearted comedy programs.

The new season of tvN's fantasy action series, “The Uncanny Counter,” will premiere on July 28 about three years after its first season.

Based on the popular webcomic, "Amazing Rumor," the series follows a group of noodle shop employees, including a teenager named So-mun (Cho) with supernatural powers. Members of the group, who call themselves "counters," use their power to track down evil spirits and demons and fight them off.

Along with the original cast members, “The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch” will welcome a new season, played by actor Yoo In-soo from the Netflix series "All of Us Are Dead,” as well as new villains, played by actors Kang Ki-young from "Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and Kim Hieora from "The Glory.”

Director You Sun-dong, whose previous works include the thriller series “Bad and Crazy” (2021), and scriptwriter Kim Sae-bom reprised their roles from the first season.

Netflix is also rolling out the second season of its Korean original series, “D.P.”, on July 28. The new military action series revolves around Private Ahn Joon-ho (Jung Hae-in) who works for a unit handling military deserters, called Deserter Pursuit, or "D.P.”

Along with Corporal Han Ho-yeol (Koo Kyo-hwan), the two come face to face with the stories of different soldiers who have gone AWOL as they track down the deserters to bring them back to base to face military justice.

The six new episodes will pick up from where the story left off previously, as Ahn and Han confront new deserters. The series is helmed by Season 1's director, Han Jun-hee, who also co-scripted the season with writer Kim Bo-tong.

Two comedy series, ENA's “Not Others” and tvN's “My Lovely Liar,” are also set to go on air.

Based on the webcomics of the same name, “Not Others” will follow the romance and life of a single mother, Eun-mi (Jeon Hye-jin), and her grownup daughter, Jin-hee (Choi Soo-young). Eun-mi had her daughter when she was in high school, raising her 29-year-old daughter by herself while working as a physiotherapist. With her bubbly, straightforward personality, her daughter is like a close friend.

Jin-hee is a cool-headed police officer who leads the patrol team at a local station. Although she bickers over everything with her mom, she is the more responsible one of the two and looks after her.

The series, scheduled for release on July 17, is led by director Lee Min-woo, whose previous works includes the 2016 romance series “Cinderella and the Four Knights,” and is written by scriptwriter Min Sun-ae.

Actress Kim So-hyun has picked up a new series for the first time in two years with the romantic comedy series, “My Lovely Liar.”

The tvN's new series, which will start on July 31, revolves around a woman named Mok Sol-hee (Kim), who has the ability to tell when people are lying. She sees it as a curse that has led her to have a deep mistrust of humans. One day, she meets a successful composer and producer, Kim Do-ha (Hwang Min-hyun), who is her next-door neighbor.

He is a murder suspect but maintains he is innocent. When Sol-hee gets involved with him, her life meets a new turning point.

The series is directed by Nam Sung-woo, who previously led the 2016 rom-com series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo,” and is penned by Seo Jung-eun, who scripted the 2021 rom-com series “Let Me Be Your Knight.”
