Actress Uhm Hyun-kyung is set to marry fellow actor and drama co-star Cha Seo-won, who is four years her junior. The couple also announced that Uhm is pregnant with their first child.
The Hankook Ilbo was able to verify on Monday that Uhm Hyun-kyung and Cha Seo-won had started dating after the airing of "The Second Husband" on MBC, in which they played the two leading roles. The relationship had been kept under wraps until the couple's announcement of their marriage plans.
The couple is also due to become parents with their first child already on the way. Uhm is planning to take a break from acting to focus on her health, and a formal wedding ceremony is due to take place after Cha Seo-won's discharge from the Korean military, where he's been enlisted as an active-duty soldier since November 22 of last year.
Uhm had frequently talked about her dreams of getting married during several TV appearances. During an episode of a variety show on MBC, Uhm met her acting colleagues where they shared their goals for this year, with Uhm confessing that getting married had been her annual goal for the past 18 years.
The actress said, "I want to have a beautiful family and someone who will always have my back, a best friend who can give me a sense of stability. Since I was a child, it's been my lifelong dream to have a baby and create a beautiful home."

During that same episode, Uhm stirred a lot of buzz by admitting to the fact that she had a crush on someone, adding that she wished he would become her future husband. The man who stole her heart turned out to be none other than Cha Seo-won.
Uhm Hyun-kyung is 36 years old while Cha Seo-won is 32. Despite the age difference, Uhm's warm and caring personality was a good complement to Cha Seo-won's masculine and dependable side, according to sources close to the couple.
Uhm made her debut in 2006 with the sitcom "Rainbow Romance," followed by dramatic roles in "Make It Big," "Capital Scandal" and "The Innocent Woman." She firmly established herself as a star with leading roles in "Mother's Garden," "The Greatest Marriage," "All is Well," "The Accused," "Single Wife," "Hide and Seek," "Miss Lee" and "Man in a Veil." She drew rave reviews for her performance in the drama "The Second Husband," in which she starred alongside her future husband Cha Seo-won, playing the role of a hard-working and optimistic woman who overcame a difficult childhood.
Cha Seo-won debuted in 2013 with the SBS drama series "The Heirs" and appeared in other productions such as "All Kinds of Daughters-in-Law" and "Liver or Die." In "The Second Husband," he left an impression on viewers for his portrayal of a son of a wealthy family who has a romantic streak. Cha also earned the nickname "The Romantic Lunatic" for showing his affectionate yet mischievous side on the MBC variety show "I Live Alone."
