Park Gyu-ri, formerly of K-pop girl band KARA, tested negative for the coronavirus (COVID-19) after visiting a nightclub in Seoul's Itaewon on May 2, when a "superspreader" from Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, made a call.
"I had a virus test on the day that the news about the confirmed case broke out and was tested negative," Park said through her agency Creative Kkot, Monday. "I have been under self-quarantine since then."
The singer-turned-actress also apologized for not following the social distancing rules, adding that she has been deeply reflecting on herself.
Her apology came after local media outlet Wikitree reported about her visit. It claimed Park danced to KARA's music at the club without wearing a face mask.
Park initially insisted that she had been wearing a mask at the club, but later changed her words.
"Park had been wearing the protective gear except for about 20 seconds in the beginning," her agency said.
Park debuted as a child actress in 1995 and started her singing career as a KARA member in 2007. The band rose to stardom with hits including "Mister" (2009). It disbanded in 2016.
Meanwhile, infections linked to bars and clubs in the nightlife district of Itaewon had reached 93 as of Tuesday afternoon.
