Actor Ahn Jae-hyun is making a small screen comeback with KBS' new series, "The Real Has Come," about three years after the rom-com series, "Love with Flaws."
The family, rom-com series revolves around a rookie Korean instructor Oh Yeon-du (Baek Jin-hee), who is pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's child. While faced with the decision to keep the child or not, she crosses paths with an obstetrician at a fertility clinic, Gong Tae-kyung (Ahn), and pretend to be in a relationship to help each other out.
"When I first read the script, it didn't take long for me to clearly picture the story in my head," Ahn shared his reason for taking the role, in a written interview released by the network. "What made 'The Real Has Come' attractive is that I didn't want to let go of the script (while reading)."
The actor plays the role of a skilled doctor, who comes from a wealthy background. He considers having his own family a burden and tries to keep a peaceful, single life.
"Tae-kyung might seem stiff but he's soft on the inside. He might seem to be a flawless person but he's actually a pitiable character because he has no one to rely on so he came to hold back his emotions," he said.
"He is a determined person who pursues what he believes in. He also doesn't easily get distracted and acts strongly on his will."
Baek also shared she decided to join the series after she felt drawn to the story.
"I read through the script because the story was fast-paced and was so interesting to see how Yeon-du gets support from others for her action and how the characters intertwine with one another," she explained.
"I'm focused on how I can make Yeon-du's decision convincing to the viewers and make them support the character as they follow the story."
She described her character as diligent and kind-hearted. "Yeon-du is a type of character that exudes kind energy. She is honest and confident, and works diligently as no one else can. I admire her firm personality and living vicariously through acting the character," she said.
"The Real Has Come" will kick off on March 25 and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 8:05 p.m.
