VIVIZ rolls out 3rd mini-album 'VarioUS'

In its new tune, "PULL UP," K-pop trio VIVIZ sends a bold message to people who love talking behind its back, telling them it does not matter what they say.
"In the music video for 'PULL UP,' we strike back at backstabbers in an adorable and delightful way," member Eunha said during a press event at YES24 Live Hall in eastern Seoul's Gwangjin District, Tuesday. "I hope people can feel liberated after watching it. Personally speaking, I do not really mind what gossipers say."
Her bandmate Umji added, "Unlike Eunha, I actually do care about their words … I think 'PULL UP' can be helpful for those who find it hard to ignore the hurtful words of others, as its lyrics tell them to be bold and just walk their own path."
"PULL UP," the lead single off VIVIZ's third mini-album, "VarioUS," is a groovy song peppered with addictive melodies and brass sounds. Some of its lyrics read: "You know that I do not care" and "Please stop pretending to know who I am."
VIVIZ, which has mostly showcased its bubbliness and loveliness since its debut with the 2022 EP "Prism Beam," is bringing something different to the fore this time, according to Umji.
"We display our power and confidence," she explained. "The color of our mini-album is black as well, which symbolizes our chicness. It was not easy to pull off this new concept and music, but thanks to our years of experience in the K-pop scene, we were able to handle it all with less pressure and enjoy the entire process of making our EP."
Although VIVIZ was formed last year, its three members ― Umji, SinB and Eunha ― had previously been parts of the now-defunct K-pop sextet GFriend. The act was active from 2015 to 2021 and some of its hits included "Me gustas tu" (2015) and "Mago" (2020).
"VarioUS" also offers five other tracks: "Blue Clue," "Love or Die," "Vanilla Sugar Killer," "Overdrive" and "So Special." Among them, Eunha picked the R&B-infused "Love or Die" as a tune emphasizing VIVIZ's musical diversity. It is a song asking for a "daring" expression of love.
"It really has a new feel," she stressed. "I think this pop number highlights our coolness."
Reflecting on their eight-year career, the singers showed their appreciation to fans worldwide.
"Time has passed so fast," Umji said. "In hindsight, every single year was so precious and we are more than excited to see what will happen in the years to come. We feel we are still in our prime."
Asked about a possible reunion of GFriend, SinB said, "We will work hard in our own places and then reunite one day."
