A string of series, from the star-studded drama, "Curtain Call," to the mystery thriller, "Shadow Detective," is set to be released in the next few weeks.
KBS' new series, "Curtain Call," brings together a lineup of stars, including veteran actress Go Doo-shim as well as Kang Ha-neul, Ha Ji-won, Kwon Sang-woo, and Sung Dong-il. The drama series, set to go on air on Oct. 31, revolves around an aspiring actor, Yoo Jae-heon (Kang), in a local theater troupe. Despite growing up as an orphan and going through financial hardship, he always remains optimistic and high-spirited, working hard to make his name as an actor.
One day, he gets an offer to pretend to be a man who defected from North Korea and is the grandson of an elderly woman, Ja Geum-soon (Go), the founder and owner of one of the largest hotel chains in Korea, to fulfill her last wish.
Pretending to be the lost grandson, Jae-heon's life changes as he meets Geum-soon's granddaughter, Park Se-yeon (Ha).
The series is led by Yoon Sang-ho, whose previous work includes the 2021 period series, "River Where The Moon Rises," and is scripted by Jo Seong-geol.

MBC will be debuting the fantasy romantic-comedy series, "May I Help You," on Oct. 19, starring singer-actors Lee Hye-ri and Lee Jun-young.
Co-directed by Sim So-yeon, who led the rom-com series, "Welcome 2 Life" (2019), and newcomer Park Sun-young, the series follows the story of a funeral director, Baek Dong-ju (Lee Hye-ri), who has a special ability to see and communicate with dead people.
Her services to the deceased extend beyond those of a regular funeral director. She is asked to grant the wishes of the dead, and if she doesn't, her day gets filled with bad luck. Getting help from Kim Jib-sa (Lee Jun-young), who works at an errand service, the two fulfill the wishes of the deceased.
Streaming services Tving and Disney+ are also rolling out their original series this month.
Tving's new series, "Bargain," based on director Lee Chung-hyun's award-winning short film of the same name, is set to hit the platform on Oct. 28.
The six-part thriller series, starring Jin Seon-kyu and Jun Jong-seo, will be about people trapped in a building where people negotiate for black market items such as human organs. When a massive earthquake hits a town, the three last surviving members struggle to get out of the building alive.
The series is led and scripted by Jun Woo-sung, who was part of the production team of the original short film.
Disney+'s new Korean original series, "Shadow Detective," set to release on Oct. 26, will star veteran actors Lee Sung-min and Jin Goo.
Led by director Han Dong-hwa, who helmed the action crime series, "Squad 38" (2016) and "Bad Guys" (2014), the series revolves around a detective, Kim Taek-rok (Lee), who is on the brink of retirement from law enforcement.
A phone call turns his life upside down, making him a prime suspect in his co-worker's murder case. He must engage in breathtaking psychological warfare with a mysterious man, Gook Jin-han (Jin), who keeps making threats to him and must dig into his own past to solve the mystery.
