Eight dance crew leaders from Mnet's popular dance competition show, "Street Woman Fighter" (2021), will reunite on the new reality show, "Anybody Can Dance," the cable channel said Thursday.
In the upcoming program, the eight leaders ― Rihey, Honey J, Hyojin Choi, Aiki, Gabee, Monika, No:ze, and Lee Jung ― will give dance lessons to people who are not good at dancing but have a deep passion for it.
From professors to doctors, and kindergarteners to those in their 50s, some 2,500 people from different backgrounds applied to join the show, according to Mnet.
The first audition was held in Hongdae and Gangnam, two of the most popular places in Seoul, on April 30. The eight leaders singled out the winners on the spot and the lucky chosen few will appear on the new dance show.
"'Anybody Can Dance' will entertain our viewers in a different way by featuring people who do not excel in dancing instead of having professional dancers," Kwon Young-chan, the chief producer of "Street Woman Fighter" and "Anybody Can Dance," said in a statement.
Taeyong of K-pop boy group NCT, who appeared as a judge for "Street Woman Fighter," will join the upcoming program as an MC.
"I am so honored to participate in the fresh show," he said. "This will be my first time hosting a show, but I will try my best to communicate with the dancers and the contestants."
"Anybody Can Dance" is set to air in June, two months before Mnet premieres "Street Man Fighter" ― a male spin-off of "Street Woman Fighter."
