TXT releases 4th mini-album, "minisode 2: Thursday's Child"

The members of K-pop boy group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) have returned as "bad boys."
After bursting onto the music scene in 2019, the quintet has been showcasing its refreshing vibe with tunes like "Crown" (2019) and "Run Away" (2019). But in its fourth EP, "minisode 2: Thursday's Child," the members bring their darkness and intensity to the forefront, unveiling their untapped sides.
Leading the fresh EP is "Good Boy Gone Bad," a hardcore hip-hop track flavored with rock sounds. It follows a boy who experiences a whirlwind of emotions after parting ways with his loved one. Unlike most other breakup songs that highlight sorrow and depression stemming from a stinging farewell, "Good Boy Gone Bad" sheds light on more extreme emotions such as anger.
"We interpreted the song in our own way, attempting to openly express our extreme yet sincere emotions," member Beomgyu said during a press conference at YES24 LIVE Hall in Gwangjin District in Seoul, Monday. "We were a bit anxious about trying something completely new, but we were more thrilled than worried to display our unexplored side."
HueningKai said, "I actually knew that TXT was going to pull off something like this, because we have been talking about 'growth' in our music so far. Everyone faces a breakup as they grow older. And thanks to our new release, I also came to learn about various emotions."
Front man Soobin added that all TXT members referred to a range of dramas and films to express deep anger and frustration in their music video.
"Since all of us have a gentle personality, it was quite awkward to portray resentful characters in the clip in the beginning. So we had to look into different movies and TV series in order to express an outpouring of anger."

TXT, which is also known as "the voice of the young generation" thanks to trendy sounds and the sincere lyrics of their songs, believes that teenagers and people their 20s will be able to relate to its fresh tune.
"I think a lot of young people have sympathized with our music as we embedded our own thoughts and feelings in it," Taehyun explained.
For the first time since its debut, TXT formed two different units to give birth to two songs. Yeonjun and HueningKai teamed up to make the contemporary R&B track, "Lonely Boy," while Soobin, Beomgyu and Taehyun joined hands to create the retro-tinged synth pop song, "Thursday's Child Has Far To Go."
"The members who get along well in terms of music joined forces," Beomgyu said. "At first, these songs sounded quite unfamiliar to me because they did not have the voices of all five of us. But later, I was surprised to realize that they still sound like the songs by TXT. All of them had our unique vibes."
The EP also offers "Trust Fund Baby," a pop ballad track about a boy feeling frustrated by the reality where only those who were born with a silver spoon can find love.
"When I heard the main theme of this track, I thought I could write some good lyrics for it as I found it quite repeatable," Taehyun, who participated in penning its lyrics, said.
Beomgyu went on to reveal that this is the first time that all TXT members took part in the creative process of all songs in their EP.
"It seems we have achieved some musical maturity," he added.
In June, TXT is scheduled to embark on its first world tour.
"We are very excited about our upcoming concerts," Taehyun said. "Maybe we will perform some of our new songs. We are currently spending a lot of time thinking about what our fans would expect to see from us."
