Actors Song Hye-kyo and Song Joong-ki have been living separately since last September, according to a local media outlet, Thursday.

Sports Chosun said the pair began living apart only 11 months after their marriage in October 2017. A friend of Joong-ki's told the outlet that the actor left home when he began filming the ongoing tvN drama "Arthdal Chronicles." He reportedly then stayed at his friend's house, but it is unknown whether he is still there.

Joong-ki has filed for court mediation for his divorce from Hye-kyo, his lawyer said Thursday.

The actor said he wants to end his marriage without playing a blame game.

Hye-kyo's agency UAA released a statement the same day, saying irreconcilable differences in personality caused the breakup.

The pair co-starred in the pan-Asian TV series "Descendants of the Sun" in 2016.

Joong-ki, who has finished filming his part for "Arthdal Chronicles," is shooting a sci-fi blockbuster movie tentatively titled "Space Shuttle Victory" with actress Kim Tae-ri. It is Korea's first space film and is directed by Jo Sung-hee. Joong-ki will play "Taeho," a space shuttle pilot.

Hye-kyo is in talks to appear in the movie "Anna," which centers on a woman. The filming is expected to begin early next year.
