Actresses Son Ye-jin, who garnered global fame with the smash-hit series "Crash Landing on You," and Jeon Mi-do, who rose to stardom through the popular series "Hospital Playlist," will be co-starring in JTBC's new drama, "Thirty, Nine."

The network announced on Wednesday that the actresses have confirmed their lead roles in the drama, which is scheduled to premiere in the first half of next year.

The two stars, along with actress Kim Ji-hyun, will play long-time friends from high school.

Led by star director Kim Sang-ho, who directed the JTBC romance drama "Run On," the show will follow the love and professional lives and friendship of the three.

Son will play dermatologist Cha Mi-jo, who runs her own clinic in one of the most populated areas in the city, Gangnam. She seems to have it all with a successful job and warm-hearted personality, having grown up in a wealthy family with loving, affectionate parents.

Jeon will play acting coach Jung Chan-young, who had dreamt of becoming an actor but ended up becoming a coach, as things didn't work out for her. She is sharp-tongued and straightforward with her opinions, but underneath her harsh words she is very caring.

Kim will play the role of Jang Joo-hee, the manager of a cosmetics brand. She has an introverted personality and has never dated in her life.

The show is written by scriptwriter Yoo Young-a, who is known for writing tvN's hit romance drama "Encounter" (2018).
