Actress Lee Yu-bi will be starring in a new movie called "Love Affair."

Newplus Original and Asia Lab, the production companies of the melodramatic film, announced, Wednesday, that the actress has confirmed the lead role. The movie will be directed by filmmaker and screenwriter Lee Jeong-seop, who is known for writing the action film, "Real," and the romance film, "Romantic Island."

The romance flick will revolve around an aspiring actress (Lee Yu-bi) who travels to New York at the request of a former couple who broke up in the city, despite their love for each other. She travels to the Big Apple to take a vicarious walk down the couple's memory lane.

"The script for this film was so interesting and touching," the actress said in the statement. "It is a love story that transcends generations, happening in a perfectly romantic place, New York. I couldn't help but fall in love with it."

Director Lee Jeong-seop said that the film will show a new side of the actress.

"Lee Yu-bi has always shown genuine, candid charm. And I hope to bring out her mature side and lesser-known charms through this film," he said.

Lee Yu-bi debuted in 2011 through the sitcom, "Vampire Idol," and has starred in various films and TV series, such as the comedy romance film, "Twenty," and period series, "Scholar Who Walks the Night."

She recently played the role of Ruby in the tvN romantic comedy series, "Yumi's Cells," the TV adaptation of the smash-hit webcomic of the same name.
