Actor and singer Doh Kyung-soo, better known as D.O. of K-pop boy band EXO, has completed 19 months of mandatory military duty and is set to return to the silver screen.

D.O., 28, was officially discharged Monday, without having to return to his military base from his final leave due to COVID-19 concerns.

"D.O. is out on his last leave," the singer's agency SM Entertainment said last month. "There will not be any event regarding his discharge."

He enlisted in July 2019 and served as a culinary specialist of the base. He also starred in the musical "Return: The Promise of the Day," commissioned by the Korean Army.

He is the second member of the group to complete his military service, following Xiumin who was discharged last November. Two other members Suho and Chen are still in the military and expected to complete their service next year.

D.O has confirmed his role in the upcoming film "The Moon" (tentative title), directed by Kim Yong-hwa, whose credits include smash hit film series "Along with the Gods." He will begin filming in the coming months. Veteran actor Sul Kyung-gu is also cast in the movie.

The singer-actor debuted with EXO in 2012 and instantly rose to stardom. He began acting with a small role in the TV drama "It's Okay, That's Love" in 2014, and has since starred in various TV series and films.
