iKON to make comeback in March

K-pop boy band iKON is gearing up to make comeback next month, its agency YG Entertainment said Monday.

The agency told local media outlets that the group will start shooting a music video for its new single this week. The detailed schedule is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The news comes after about a year since iKON released its third mini-album, “i DECIDE.”

This project will be the first by the group as six members ― Jinhwan, Yunhyeong, Bobby, Donghyuk, Ju-ne and Chanwoo ― since former leader B.I left the group over drug allegations in 2019.

B.I took part in writing and composing most of the tracks of “i DECIDE,” which was released later than originally scheduled. But after he was found to have traded and used illegal drugs, he left the band eventually.

The group plans to star in Mnet's survival show, “Kingdom,” in April. The sequel to “Road to Kingdom,” which aired last April, will invite K-pop boy bands to compete for the best performing group. BTOB, SF9, Stray Kids and ATEEZ are among the groups that have been confirmed to participate, with TVXQ as the hosts.

iKON debuted in 2015 with the studio album, “Welcome Back,” comprising of the trainees who competed on the survival shows, “WIN: Who Is Next” and “MIX MATCH.” iKON shot to stardom as YG's first boy band since Winner.

The group has released a string of hits including “My Type” (2015) and “LOVE SCENARIO” (2018).
