KBS series "Cheat on Me, If You Can" hit its lowest viewership ratings Wednesday at 3.6 percent.

The series, starring Cho Yeo-jeong and Ko Jun, was off to a good start with its first episode ― 5.8 percent ― Dec. 2. However, the ratings soon slipped downward, dropping to its lowest with the 8th episode.

The comedy-thriller series revolves around best-selling mystery novel writer Yeo-joo (Cho) and her husband, famous divorce lawyer Han Woo-sung (Ko), who repeatedly breaks his promise to "die if I ever cheat."

The story is written by Lee Sung-min, who wrote both seasons of the popular mystery series "Queen of Mystery."

Soon after Woo-sung starts a political campaign to become a lawmaker, one of his mistresses is found dead and his wife is suspected of her murder.

Yeo-joo has acquired extensive knowledge about killing people from her crime novels and one episode after another suggests she has a dark past.

As the story continues, people linked to Yeo-joo's past appear, including spy Dong-gyun (Oh Min-seok). The mystery continues to mount as to the identity of the unknown killer of the mistress and Yeo-joo's connection to the new characters.

However, the complicated, entangled mysteries, without any being resolved even halfway into the 16-part series, seem to have caused viewers to lose interest, leaving them confused.

"The story doesn't make sense and is far from convincing ... The writer can do better than this," a viewer wrote online.

"Cheat on Me, If You Can" airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 p.m.
