Conspiracy theorists claimed a high-tech device like a laptop was used in ancient Greece, the British Daily Mail reports.

The theorists at website StillSpeakingOut say the statue, Grave Naiskos of an Enthroned Woman with an Attendant, shows a woman who looks like a supernatural being passing advanced information and a high-tech device to a priest.

The statue from 100 B.C. depicts a priest standing in front holding an object that resembles a laptop. The statue is at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu, California.

But scientists claim the object that resembles a laptop is a wax tablet used for writing.

However, the conspiracy theorists argue the object does not resemble any other wax tablets in Greek art. The women’s eyes are focused on the inner lid of the object -- the same place that would contain a laptop monitor, the theorists claim.

Historians say the statue merely shows a woman touching the lid of a shallow chest.
