Although several plus-size models have expressed a dislike of the term “plus-size,” one says it should not disappear, American fashion magazine Paper Magazine reported Jan. 26.

Tess Holliday, 30, said the term is important.

“When plus-size women look online, or look in magazines, they see that label, or see that term, they feel like they’re not alone,” she said in an interview with the magazine. “They have something to identify with. I’m really a firm believer in calling it what it is.”

The term is also important for women to find where they can shop, she said.

Holliday says those who want to ban the term are silly.

But some fashion stars, including Robyn Lawley and Tyra Banks, want the label to disappear, saying they prefer to be known as “curvy.”
