Patient dies after Russian doctor's punch

Listen

A Russian doctor has allegedly killed a patient with a punch.

The incident happened at the end of last year in a hospital in Belgorod, southwest Russia. The patient was in his 50s.

Security camera footage shows a nurse examining the patient. Soon after, a doctor and a nurse walk into the room and the doctor pushes the patient into another room.

The doctor punches the patient, who falls down and is later pronounced dead. The doctor also attacks the patient’s guardian.

Police said the patient kicked one of the nurses, sparking the attack.

They said the patient suffered massive brain damage when his head hit the floor.

The doctor has been dismissed and is under investigation.

It is expected he will be charged with improper treatment rather than murder. If found guilty, he could be jailed for two years.
