Samsung phone saves man's life from Paris terror

A Samsung smartphone saved a man’s life in the deadly Paris terror attacks by the Islamic State, Friday.

Interview footage by Reuters posted online Saturday showed a man, who identified himself as Sylvestre, taking out his smartphone from his jacket. The white phone’s back, showing a Samsung logo, was hit by what the man said was bomb shrapnel. The device’s front screen was also shattered.

According to the footage, Sylvestre was crossing the street when he witnessed a bombing in front of him. Showing the smartphone, he told the camera man “This is the cell phone that took the hit, it saved me. Otherwise my head would have been blown to bits.”

A media report on Monday said the phone, based on the design of its front screen, appears to be Galaxy S6 Edge.

The Friday night assault, coordinated by eight IS terrorists, claimed almost 130 people.
