Hollywood actor Michael Enright has gone to Syria to fight the Islamic State (ISIS), calling it “a stain on humanity.”
“I didn’t come here to play games,” Enright told Dubai-based Al Aan TV. “I came here to fight and if I have to die, then I die. ISIS, they need to be wiped off completely from the face of this earth.”
The British actor, 51, reportedly left for Syria more than two months ago and joined Kurdish troops.
After watching a video of a Jordanian pilot burned to death by the IS militants, he decided to join the Kurdish People’s Protection Unites, better known as the YPG.
“I particularly became aware of ISIS when they cut off an American journalist’s head,” he said. “An innocent man with his hands tied behind his back, and they cut his head off. What was even worse for me was it was an Englishman who did it.”
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star also said he was emotionally involved with the United States.
“I live in America, I feel such a debt to America, I love America with all my heart, and it was an Englishman who did it to an American citizen,” he said.
“This is not just a Kurdish call. This is a call on humanity to obliterate them.”
