Google executive Dan Fredinburg was among those who died in an avalanche triggered by an earthquake that killed more than 1,800 people in Nepal on Saturday.

“I regret to inform all who loved him that during the avalanche on Everest early this morning, our Dan suffered a major head injury and didn’t make it,” wrote his sister Megan.

“All our love and thanks to those who shared this life with our favorite, hilarious, strong-willed man. He was and is everything to us.”

The late executive’s Instagram account included photos of himself climbing Mount Everest with three other Google employees on a project, Save the Ice, dedicated to raising public awareness about global warming “through adventurous campaigns and events around the world.”

The company launched a person-finder tool to aid the search for missing people after the disaster ㅡ users can search for a person or register information.
