Video game companies in China are paying “hot” women millions of dollars to attract more male gamers to online competitions.
China’s top-paid e-sport hostess, Han Yiying, was paid $2.7 million to join a game film last year, according to reports. Han is dubbed the “Queen of e-sport.”
Her job is to dress in sexy outfits and chat with male gamers on the Internet or in person at live events.
“There are also a lot of women that do it part-time and earn pretty good money,” the U.K.’s Daily Mirror quoted an e-sport cafe owner as saying.
“They have a whole variety of different online activities but the one thing they all have in common is that they are beautiful, and they dress in very sexy clothing, which seems to be the winning formula to attract customers.”
