Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are winning kudos for allowing their child to use the name “John,” in what has been termed an exploration of her gender identity.

The child was named Shiloh, but has reportedly asked to be called “John.”

“John” was present along with her father and two brothers at the premier of the film “Unbroken” wearing a short hair cut and tuxedo. While the couple has been open about their child’s desire to be a boy for some time, the appearance cast new interest on the family.

Jolie told Vanity Fair in 2010 that the child has wanted to be a boy since the age of three.

"She wants to be a boy," Jolie told the magazine. "So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers."
