A cocktail bar has opened inside a formerly derelict public toilet in the U.K.
In trendy northwest London, the “Ladies & Gents” refurbished underground washroom has “pre-World War II marble mosaic flooring, arched beams, a grand piano and a wall of functional urinals,” according to New York-based online magazine Grub Street on Friday.
Opened by Will Borrell, who also owns a vodka company, Ladies & Gents offers a variety of alcoholic drinks, some made from “locally grown botanicals” using a copper alembic, as well as side dishes including sausage rolls and Scotch eggs.
Civic groups opposed the bar when Borrell first proposed the idea 18 months ago.
