Instagram user count overtakes Twitter

Launched in 2010, the mobile-based platform this month exceeded the 300 million mark, up from 200 million in March. The number exceeds that of Twitter.
Photo-sharing social network Instagram has moved ahead of Twitter, with more than 300 million monthly active users as of Wednesday.
About 70 million photos are shared daily using the service, which is owned by Facebook, Inc. The platform is popular in Europe, Brazil and Russia, which make up 70 percent of users.
Facebook has the most users among social media sites with nearly 1.4 billion, followed by 500 million Facebook Messenger users and 600 million in WhatsApp.
