Willie Murphy, 77, from Rochester, New York, is making her name as an iron-pumping power lifter, showing that lifestyle and exercise can help you stay healthier, whatever your age or gender.
Winning the Lifter of the Year at the last month's World Natural Powerlifting Federation (WNPF) World Championships in Riverdale, Georgia, by hoisting 215 pounds (97 kilograms), the grandmother shows the likes to push her physical limits.
Murphy can also do one-handed pull-ups, one-handed pushups, and fingertip pushups ― which few men or women in their prime can do.
“They see I'm old and I'm not being pushed around in a wheelchair," she told USA Today. She said she could shovel snow and push her car if it got stuck in the snow.
“Thanks to the power training ... You see that’s what it’s about. It’s about life,” she said.
