Window washers left dangling from 68th floor

Two window washers were trapped in a scaffold dangling dangerously from the 68th floor of the One World Trade Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Juan Lizama, 41, and Juan Lopez, 33, with 19 years’ combined experience, were trapped when a cable supporting the scaffold broke.
The men were supported by their safety belts for about 90 minutes until a rescue team of firemen, police, the Port Authority and the Office of Emergency Management pulled them from the dangling scaffold into the building through a hole they had cut.
A large crowd watched the rescue.
The men were taken to Bellevue Hospital. They reportedly suffered no injuries except mild hypothermia.
The New York Daily News quoted a spectator as saying, “You don’t want to see any deaths anywhere ― but especially here.”
