Woody and the gang will be back in town soon for the next Toy Story movie.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced plans for “Toy Story 4” on Thursday. John Lasseter, who directed the first two “Toy Story” films, will direct the movie, due to be released on June 16, 2017, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Pixar directors Andrew Stanton of “Finding Nemo,” Pete Docter of “Up” and Lee Unkrich of “Toy Story 3,” along with Lasseter inspired the idea of a fourth movie in the popular animated series.
“’Toy Story 3’ ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie,” Lasseter said in a statement.
“But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie _ and I wanted to direct it myself.”
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will again provide the voices of Woody and Buzz.
“We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before,” Lasseter said.
The remaining cast for Toy Story 4 is yet to be confirmed.
