Ever wondered what it would be like to run as fast as a car? Well, it might soon be possible, with newly developed “bionic boots” that could enable humans to reach incredible speeds, the Daily Mail reports.
San Francisco inventor Keahi Seymour has built a prototype that could allow humans to run at up to 40 kph. He got his inspiration from ostriches, the world’s fastest birds, which can reach up to 70 kph, covering up to five meters in one stride.
Seymour’s “bionic boots” have springs on the back designed like the Achilles heel of an ostrich to give stronger down-force.
Seymour told Popular Science magazine he will continue with his experiments until perfects a “bionic boot” that enables people to outrun some of Earth’s fastest animals.
