A crematorium in Richmond, Va. caught on fire last week after an overweight corpse created excessive heat and oil, reports said.
The 225-kilogram body came in last Wednesday to Southside Cremation Services.
However, just as the workers started to cremate the oversized corpse, the corpse’s body fat produced the extra heat and oil, which directly went up the smokestack and set the rubber roof ablaze.
Neighbors reported the smoke billowing from the smokestack around noon.
Firemen contained the fire within 30 minutes. No major damages were reported.
A similar case was reported two years ago in Austria when a 200-kilogram body set a crematorium on fire.
