Internet trolls have targeted actress Emma Watson and threatened to release her nude photos after she made a stirring speech about gender equality.
Hours after the U.N. Goodwill Ambassador spoke about the HeForShe campaign, which calls on men to take an active role in women's rights, the trolls launched an online site titled "Emma You Are Next."
The site included a photograph of the 24-year-old British star as well as a ticker counting down the time until Friday, when the site threatens to release the nude images.
The site was reportedly made by a user of image board website 4chan, the same place where leaked celebrity photos first appeared last month.
The website stated, "Never forget, the biggest to come thus far," referring to previously leaked celebrity photos.
Watson, who appeared in the “Harry Potter” film series, had been outspoken about the leak of celebrity nudes, tweeting, "Even worse than seeing women's privacy violated on social media is reading the accompanying comments that show such a lack of empathy."
It remained to be seen whether the site would release any photos or if it was a hoax.
