Sony's virtual reality game criticized as sexist

Sony is facing backlash after releasing footage of a new virtual reality game, “Summer Lesson,” which takes place in a high school girl’s bedroom.

The preview, unveiled at Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference on September 1, shows how players can interact with the girls by using the upcoming virtual reality headset Project Morpheus and the PlayStation system.

One Twitter proclaimed that the game, made by Tekken, is “basically an excuse to stare at a high school girl.”

It is also drawing criticism because the graphics focus heavily on the girl’s body.

A full preview of the game will be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show on September 18.
