Homophobic impulses may have driven Elliot Rodger, who killed seven people in a shooting rampage in California, a psychologist has told Fox TV.
Appearing on the network’s Justice with Judge Jeanie, Robi Ludwig, who frequently appears on reality television, speculated that Rodger’s gay feelings fueled his murderous rampage.
Ludwig acknowledged she had never known Rodger and had never diagnosed him, but that did not prevent Fox, a media outlet never accused of being judicious, from airing her opinion in length.
In a video posted on YouTube before the shootings, Rodger explained that he planned the shooting to retaliate against women for rejecting him.
``All you girls who rejected me and looked down upon me and treated me like scum, while you gave yourself to other men,’’ Rodger said in the video. ``And all of you men for living a better life than me. All of you sexually active men. I hate you.”
Ludwig said on Fox, ``When I was first listening to him, I was like, ‘Oh, he’s angry with women for rejecting him.’
“And then I started to have a different idea: Is this somebody who is trying to fight against his homosexual impulses?
When Judge Jeanie pointed out that Rodger had killed men and women, Ludwig speculated that he could have been “angry at the men for not choosing him.”
