Woman mistreated over feeding bottle wins $75,000

A woman who sued the U.S. government for being mistreated over a feeding bottle for her infant son has won a compensation of $75,000.

The incident occurred four years ago when Stacy Amato arrived at the Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, Arizona with a feeding bottle containing her breast milk for her son.

Amato took the case to court in 2010 after she was told to wait for 40 minutes at the security desk even though regulations do not call for checks on feeding bottles.

Accordingly, the local court finally ruled in favor of Amato and ordered the Transportation Security Agency to pay her $75,000 in compensation.

“I have checked and TSA officials continue to put feeding bottle through security despite there being no regulations to do so,” Amato said.

“I hope that this will prove to be an opportunity for breastfeeding mothers to travel more freely,” she added.

Amato said she will be using a part of the compensation to help promote the advantages of breastfeeding.
