Indian man swallows 12 gold bars

An Indian businessman swallowed 12 gold bars, amounting to 400 grams of gold, said BBC on Friday.

The 63-year-old businessman claimed he swallowed a bottle cap after an argument with his wife.

However, the man reported a stomachache after swallowing gold and was rushed to the hospital.

When doctors opened up his stomach, they were surprised to find gold bars weighing up to 400 grams, a total of 12 gold bars.

Gold smuggling has risen as a major problem in India.

Being the world’s largest consumer of gold, India has seen an all time high in gold smuggling records.
