Google patents smart contact lens

Google recently patented the new wearable smart contact lens with a camera built in, reported Daily Mail on Monday.

The new smart contact lens is composed of a control circuit, camera and an image sensor. These are fit into a tiny chip embedded between the two lens layers.

Those who wear this lens will be able to enjoy the functions available on Google Glass.

Google has already invented a contact lens for diabetics to warn them of low glucose levels by monitoring their tears. The firm said that the new smart contact lens will assist the blind to see since the system will be able to detect faces. Google plans to input wireless functions to the smart lens to transmit data and commands between the user and smartphone.

However, Google has not mentioned about the potential damage that the data chip might cause when directly touched with human eyes.
