Ancient historic site found in Siberia

A burial ground carrying several ancient mummies was discovered in the Arctic Circle of Siberia, reported the Daily Mail on Monday.

A total of 34 graves have been dug up by archaeologists, disclosing several mummified bodies and artifacts of significant importance.

What was found were surprisingly well-preserved 800-year-old bodies, some of them wearing copper masks. They are assumed to be the tribal members of the south part of the Arctic Circle.

Experts say that this tribe shared no customs with nearby tribes. They added that the bodies were mummified in copper by mistake during the burial ritual. A genetic study will be carried to find out where the bodies originated from.

The artifacts discovered along with the bodies include a bronze bowl, a silver plate, a belt and a belt buckle. Archaeologists are still examining the burial artifacts and are suggesting a major link to Persia.

This discovery is expected to solve the riddle of the medieval civilization in the Siberian Arctic.
