Man dumps girlfriend down manhole

A terrified woman was stuffed down a manhole by her own boyfriend, New York Daily News said Friday.

A surveillance footage first shows the Chinese man, all alone, covering the gap in the Haiku City street with a cardboard.

Returning some time later with his lover, he forces her to walk over his handiwork.

She falls into the hole and the man is then seen stuffing her body and her umbrella inside.

He then closes the gap with an iron manhole cover, and places a sheet of wood on top.

The woman remained trapped inside the hole for a staggering 60 hours before her cries for help were heard by passersby.

Hauled out of the hole, she told police she was "exhausted" from trying to stop herself from drowning in the water.

"I did not sleep at all the first night I fell in the manhole. I could see the darkness around me. I thought that I would choke to death if I looked up," she reportedly told officers.

The woman, named only as Guo, claimed she was set up on Dec. 12 because her boyfriend owed her $16,500.

Police arrested her lover on suspicion of attempted murder.
