Indian woman gang-raped by 13 neighbors

A woman in India has been gang-raped by a group of neighbors because she was accused of an affair with a man from another tribe.
What is more horrifying is the fact that the rape was instructed by tribe elders, reported BBC on Jan. 23.
The Birbhum police in West Bengal arrested 13 village men for gang-raping their 20-year-old neighbor.
Birbhum strictly forbids dating and marriage with people from outside their village.
On the day, the girl was visited by her boyfriend who was about to propose to her after dating for five years but when her neighbors found out, she was accused of breaking the tribal rule.
The village headman told younger men to capture and bring in the couple.
A kangaroo court was set up by the villagers and levied a fine of 25,000 Indian rupees, around 430,000 won, on each in punishment for their love.
The man paid the fine and left the village.
The girls’ family, however, could not afford to pay and the gang rape was ordered as punishment.
Back in 2010, three women were forcefully shown around naked because “they were close to people from other villages.”
