A Navy SEAL has revealed the moment of Osama Bin Laden’s death, according to the Daily Mail.
“I could see his brains spilling out. I watched him take his last breath,” he said.
He shot bin Laden three times in the head before his death.
It’s the first time he has ever talked about the incident.
In an interview in the March edition of “Esquire” magazine, he detailed in describing the heart-stopping two minutes.
He is referred to as “The Shooter” for the safety of his family.
In the interview, he revealed how the unit prepared for the mission, the second he came face to face with the al-Qaeda leader and the fallout from the successful raid.
After the go-ahead, ”He is 100 percent on the third floor” from his superior, a female CIA agent, he raided the compound hole in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
“This is him. This is my life's work. I'm positive,” she added. Following her order, the shooter locked eyes on his target, and was surprised at the target’s appearance.
Bin Laden was much taller than any of their guys, and skinny with a short beard and
shaved head. He was holding his wife Amal in front of him as a shield.
“The Shooter” could see exactly what was going on through night vision goggles whereas Bin Laden was in total darkness and could only hear.
At the time Bin Laden was a danger because he could become a martyr by killing himself.
So “the shooter” shouted, “He’s got a gun within reach. He’s a threat. I need to get a head shot so he won’t have a chance to clack himself off [blow himself up].”
Then he shot Bin Laden. “I remember as I watched him breathe out the last part of air.
"I thought ‘Is this the best thing I've ever done, or the worst thing I've ever done?’ "
