Many parents eventually face this question: “Mom (or Dad), what is sex?”
Embarrassed adults might dodge the question altogether, but it remains as “the” question to be answered.
Without having their parents answering them, however, teenagers, it seems, already know what they need to know.
An online survey was conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the health status of youths.
Of all the teenagers surveyed, 5.3 percent students had sexual intercourse, according to the study.
The age at which they have sexual intercourse was getting younger: 14.2 in 2006, 14 in 2007 and 13.6 in 2011.
Consequently, the study stressed the importance of sex education.
“simulation doll”, a recent hit in the U.S. market, is to explain the consequences of sex, which is having babies.
It is done so without nagging words from the parents or teachers.
This $1,000 (1.1million won) doll needs every care just like a real baby.
It presents a make-belief mom with a specific mission: Diaper change, burping, attention, and feeding.
The doll doesn’t come with a battery change, so powering it out is impossible.
The doll needs 24/7 attention. If she leaves the baby unattended, she fails altogether.
Raising a simulation doll was introduced to prevent teen pregnancy, teen abortion, and STD (sexually transmitted disease).
Instead of abstinence, it serves as a clever way to wake up young girls who are not really aware of the consequences of having sex.
Momentary pleasure becomes lifelong nuisance, some girls might have realized.
Girls with the doll after one week said, “I will not have a baby.” “I will swear off sex until I get married.”
