Islamic preacher freed after raping and torturing 5-year-old girl

A well-known Islamic preacher was found to have tortured his five-year-old daughter to death. However, he was released after he agreed to pay the compensation, dubbed as “blood money,” reported The Daily Mail on Feb. 4.

His daughter Lama al-Ghamdi died in October due to the multiple injuries, including a crushed skull, broken ribs and left arm, bruises and burns.

She was also sustaining physical evidences for repeated rapes and burns over injuries.

And the investigation turned out her assailant is nobody but her father, a famous Islamic preacher and a regular on Saudi Arabian TV.

After the incident, he was put behind bars for just a few months, despite admitting to have used a cane and cables to his daughter.

Sources told that her father had suspected about his little girl's virginity, so that he made her checked up by a medic.

Randa al-Kaleeb, a social worker from the hospital where Lama was admitted, said the girl's back was broken and that she had been repeatedly raped.

Much to the dismay of activists, rather than the death penalty or life, he was given a mere 31,000 pound ($50,000) fine because the judge deemed the time he served in jail since his arrest as sufficient, said activists.

Under the Islamic law, the compensation money will go to the next of kin, in this case, her mother.

Islamic laws cannot execute a father for murdering his children, and a husband for murdering his wife.

Saudi social media outlets are abuzz, as activists are spreading the news and calling for better protection of women and children.
