A bizarre incident occurred in Yueyang City, Hunan Province, China, where a man apparently had his kidney “stolen” during surgery.
The man visited a hospital last month for an examination because he continued to feel ill and the result showed that he was missing his left kidney.
He underwent surgery in a nearby hospital to remove his spleen and the person who performed the surgery is suspected of removing his healthy kidney.
The man reported the incident to the medical authorities and they are currently conducting an investigation on the truth of what happened during surgery.
The doctor in charge of the surgery denied any wrongdoing and insisted that the left kidney was the cause of the patient’s impotence and was basically dysfunctional.
He said there might have been error on the part of the surgeon but that there was no wrongdoing.
On the part of the city administration, officials said criminal charges will be imposed following the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
