A Chinese couple, who sold illegal drugs, has spread out 80 million yuan, almost 14.1 billion won in a room.

Police of Anyang, the northernmost city in Henan Province, arrested the couple on Tuesday, confiscating a total of 2.8 ton of the drugs as well as the money, reported local media on Thursday.

The police said that the husband and his wife were sleeping on the money which was laid on the floor when they raided the house.

In the investigation, they said that although earning a lot of money by selling the drugs from the end of 2009, they were not able to find proper space to keep it and feared of being stolen, which led them to sleep on the cash.

On top of that, the couple often moved from one place to another because of the feeling of insecurity. They even used an agriculture tractor or tricycle to pretend that they are poor.

They have even lived in an old house and bought only one pack of grilled duck when visiting their relatives on national holidays to pretend that they are not rich, according to the police.

“Even though I have worked in the financial industry for years, I haven’t seen the amount of cash they had,” said a chief of a financial company in Anyang.
