4.4 billion won lottery winner comes back to stack shelves

A 46-year-old lottery winner has gone back to work two years after quitting her job, but not because she spent all the money she won. Nicky Cusack, a Briton, has admitted that even though she became rich, she was not happy with her lifestyle which changed so abruptly.

Most lottery winners answer that more than anything else they want to quit their jobs.

Nicky, a worker at an Asda outlet, was not any different _ she left her work immediately after she won 2.5 million pounds (4.4 billion won) in a lottery in 2009.

However her expectations of happiness were crushed. Nicky not only couldn’t get used to the rich life, she also had to fight breast cancer. Going through a devastating time of chemo- and radiotherapy treatments, Nicky realized that she only wished to be healthy and to work again. She confessed that it was her determination to go back to work, not the money, that got her through the darkest moments during the treatment.

After surviving two operations to remove tumors, she applied to work again at Asda. She asked to get her job back, which the company gladly accepted considering the painful time she had gone through. Even though Nicky is earning minimum wages at 6.5 pounds (about 11,000 won) an hour, she is happily working 10 hours a day.

With her attempts to spend her money for a better cause, she has donated 3,000 pounds (about 4.73 million won) to Macmillan Cancer Support.
