’Chinese teen led miserable life beside dog’

A 10-year-old Chinese boy has led a miserable life, just like a dog, for the past two years, Chinese media reported over the weekend.

Kai Changching, living in a small village in Harbin, in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, was bound by an iron chain near a doghouse. There he ate, slept and lived as what they called “a slave,” reports said.

The alleged child abuse was made public when villagers reported it to the authorities. His uncle claimed there were few choices but to chain the boy because he has mental problems. The boy was found naked, covered with dust and sitting on a frigid floor.

After his mother died of an illness and his father was left completely paralyzed after a traffic accident, the boy was sent to live with his uncle. The uncle, named Kai Quan, forced the disabled boy to work, and tied him beside the doghouse when he was not working.

During a police interrogation, the uncle said he chained the boy up because he has mental problems and may flee. The uncle will be charged with child abuse, the reports said.

Last November, a man living in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, was arrested for tying up his 12-year-old twin daughters for begging for coins in the streets.
