Stopping age possible through ’Stone Age’ diet
A researcher claimed that stopping age is possible after 90 years old if one embraces seafood, fruits, nuts and vegetables, the British Daily Mail newspaper reported Friday.
Michael Rose, a professor of evolutionary biology, insisted that people experience ageing until 90s, but when they reach the age of 93, their body will be no longer aged.
The professor recommended “switching to diet favored by our hunter-gatherer ancestors” to reach the stage.
He called his method as "Stone Age" diet. He suggested that adopting this sort of diet from around the age of 30 will prevent aging.
"I have been following such a diet ― avoiding grass-derived foods, such as grains, rice, corn and sugar cane, and anything made from milk ― for two years, and the results have been good,” said the professor.
Rose's advice, however, is far from mainstream. Other experts say that he dismissed solid evidence into the causes of ageing.
"It is misleading to hold out the hope that something remarkable happens to arrest ageing very late in life ... the mortality plateau is seen only at very high ages when the risk of dying is already very high,” said Professor Tom Kirkwood of the Institute for Ageing and Health at Newcastle University.
