Jilted bride attempts suicide in wedding dress

Hanging dangerously outside a seventh-floor window, this is the dramatic moment a bride-to-be was saved from falling to the ground below.

The desperate woman had climbed out on to the window ledge of a residential building in Changchun, Jilin Province in China, dressed in a flowing ivory wedding gown.

The 22-year-old is believed to have climbed out of the apartment window after her boyfriend of four years broke up with her. They are believed to have been planning to get married.

As horrified onlookers tried to talk her away from danger, the bride-to-be was about to fall when she was saved by a local community officer.

Guo Zhongfan, an office director in Changchun’s Kuancheng district, grabbed and held her by her shoulders and wedding dress.

A second man was seen clambering out from the window directly below to support the woman’s feet and assist her rescue.

As the dramatic episode unfolded, hundreds had gathered onto the street, watching the drama unfold.

It was reported the woman’s rescuer then carried her downstairs where he was met by a retired army officer who told him: “You must have been a soldier before. Thank you, you are a great man!”

The woman herself suffered no major injuries and was driven away in an ambulance.

결혼 10일 앞두고 투신자살女 극적 구출

결혼을 10일 앞두고 약혼자에게 배신당한 20대 여성이 자신의 아파트에서 투신자살하려다 한 남성이 극적으로 구조한 사실이 알려지면서 화제다.

지 난 17일 오후 3시쯤 중국 지린(吉林)성 창춘(?春)시 구이양제(??街)와 우송루(?淞路) 교차로 부근의 한 아파트에 사는 23세 리(李)모 여성이 웨딩드레스를 입고 7층 창문에 걸터앉아 투신자살하려는 모습이 보이자 주변에 사람들이 몰려들었다.

투신자살 소동을 벌이는 사이 소식을 듣고 달려온 콴청(?城l)구 신파(新?) 지역사무소 업무위원회 궈중판(郭中凡) 부주임이 7층으로 올라가 1시간동안 리모씨를 설득하며 대화를 나눴다.

궈 부주임과 대화를 하면서 격앙된 감정이 다소 누그러졌을 무렵 경찰연락을 받고 찾아온 어머니가 “죽으려면 같이 죽자”면서 통곡하는 바람에 다시 감정이 격해져 곧바로 창문 아래로 뛰어내렸다.

이때 궈 부주임이 쏜살같이 달려가 떨어지는 리모씨를 극적으로 잡아챈 뒤 아래층과 주변 사람들의 도움으로 리모씨를 무사히 구출했다.

이 광경을 지켜보고 있던 사람들은 안도의 한숨과 함께 궈 부주임에게 우레같은 박수를 보냈다. 올해 40세인 궈 부주임은 동베이(?北)사범대 중문과를 졸업하고 지역신문인 창춘르바오(?春日?) 기자를 거쳐 2001년 중국 공산당에 입당후 현직을 맡고 있다.

투신자살 소동으로 벌인 리모씨는 4년동안 사귄 남자친구가 결혼을 10일 앞두고 갑작스럽게 이별통보를 하자 자살을 결심한 것으로 전해졌다.

한편, 투신자살하려던 여성을 극적으로 구출한 궈 부주임은 중국의 유명 검색포털인 바이두(百度)에 약력과 함께 이날 구출에 대한 자세한 내용이 실리는 등 유명인사가 됐다.
