Man gets 6 years in jail for billboard porn stunt

A computer hacker, who brought Moscow traffic to a standstill with a rush-hour porn stunt, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment, AFP reported Thursday.

Igor Blinnikov, 41, thought it would be fun to hack into one of the video billboards in central Moscow and shock drivers by screening hardcore porn.

On Jan. 14 last year, Blinnikov hacked into the server of an advertizing agency operating a 7mx5m billboard next to the Interior Ministry building on the Garden Ring and the traffic came to a halt while the clip played for just a couple of minutes.

While many drivers were amused and even parked on the side to watch, the authorities were not happy and the hacker was soon detained.

He had appeared in court in his home city of Novorossiysk in May last year on charges of selling 13 grams of marijuana, and was sentenced to five years hard labor.

When he went on trial for the hacking itself, prosecutors called for a six-year prison term, which the court handed down in full.

Confessing to the offense, Blinnikov described it as a “bad joke.” “I expected a bit less,” he said after the sentencing.

도심 전광판에 포르노 올린 해커 6년 징역

지난해 1월 러시아 모스크바 도심의 대형 옥외 전광판에 포르노 영상을 올려 한때 교통지옥까지 연출했던 해커에게 6년 징역형이 선고됐다고 24일(현지시간) AFP통신이 전했다.

이 보도에 따르면 해커 이고르 블리니코프(41)는 모스크바 도심에서 옥외 전광판을 해킹해 들어가면 재미있겠다는 생각이 들었다.

그는 지난해 1월 14일 늦은 저녁 7mX5m짜리 옥외 전광판을 운영하는 광고 대행업체 ‘스리 스타스’의 서버에 침입해 남녀의 성행위가 담긴 음란 영상물을 올렸다.

전광판에서 2분 정도 남녀의 성행위 장면이 흘러나오자 주변 교통은 순간 수라장으로 변했다. 일부 운전자는 아예 갓길로 차를 댄 뒤 포르노 감상에 여념이 없었다.

당국으로서는 재미있을 리 만무했다. 얼마 지나지 않아 체포된 블리니코프는 지난해 5월 고향인 서남부 노보로시스크 법정에서 5년 중노동형을 선고 받았다.

당시 선고는 그가 마리화나 13g을 판 혐의 때문이다.

그 동안 교도소에 복역 중이던 블리니코프는 해킹 혐의로 23일 법정에 다시 나왔다. 검찰은 6년 징역을 구형했다. 이에 법원은 검찰의 구형량을 그대로 선고했다.

전광판 해킹 행위에 대해 ‘고약한 장난’이라고 시인한 블리니코프는 ‘그래도 형량이 줄어들 줄 알았다”며 고개를 숙였다.
